 | | This graph is a comparison between the sets of cams. This is a 4th gear roll on test |
| | | CA cams all gear and 4th gear roll on Here the bike was running a little rich. |
|
| | 49-state cams Now it is running lean. Lean enough to go up one size on the main jets. Pulling the snorkel probably increased the airflow but not this much alone |
| |
 | | These are the first pics I took of my VFR. The background is the Pacific Ocean at Asilomar in Monterey, CA. |
| > | | VFRs will stoppie. It took some practice, but is definitely possible. Good rubber is required. Notice it only takes two fingers. |
|
| | My VFR at the Grand Canyon enroute to Texas Sept '99 |
| | | While in Texas I did some dragracing. My CA model(pre-49-st cams) VFR ran about 11.7 at 113mph at about 2000ft elevation. Hard launches caused no problems at all to the clutch. This bike can be launched very hard. 60ft times were usually 1.8secs. I removed the slipon while racing which resulted in a slightly faster run. It also sounded awesome, quite raspy. I got a lot of looks from the car racers. The R1 belongs to my friend Tod, a used car salesman in Snyder, TX. I believe I beat him every time we raced (bracket racing of course). Check out the spreadsheet above for more dragracing numbers. |

 | | My VFR and GS in Monterey. |
| | | In Feb '00 I rode from Texas to Virginia in 2.5 days (27 riding hours). On my bike I had saddle bags, a stuffed garment bag, a sea bag, a large tank bag, and a full(40lb) ALICE pack on my back |
|
| | The Hindle muffler from my GS will slip on to my VFR. It sounds better than the TBR. |
| | | This shows the obvious difference in valve lift. 5mm more for the 49-state cams. |
|
| | The new bodywork |
| |
| |
| | Because the subframe is no doubt substantially heated by the engine, the R/R cannot dissipate heat into it. |
| | | Because of that I mounted it where it will be well cooled. |
|
 | | The new OEM regulator/rectifier. Heavier gauge wire individually connected to the r/r. 25,000 miles with it and no problems. |
| |
 | | I made a mounting bracket from scrap aluminum and bolted it to a convenient hole on the passenger peg bracket. |
| |
 | | The red knob turns very easily to adjust the rebound damping. To the left is where you increase ride height |
| | | 6 settings for compression damping. |
|
 | | Freshly powdercoated with clearcoat. The wheels now can be easily cleaned with just water and a rag. No more polishing. |
