LS-1 Blazer
The story
begins with a 1989 GMC Jimmy that I resurrected from a junkyard. The only parts
that were used from the original vehicle were the frame and cab. So, even though
the truck is technically a Jimmy, LS-1 Jimmy sounds retarded, so for all intent
and purposes, it's a Blazer.
Some of
my other projects were a 1986 TPI 350 Blazer and a 1988 S-10 LT-1.
My
current ride is 1988 Blazer powered by an LS-1 that was pulled out of a 1999
Trans Am.
I
replaced the doors, hood, front clip, and the
rear gate. The front seats and middle console are out of a 99 S-10
Blazer. The rear seat was covered to match the front. The dash, digital
instrument cluster, carpet, all glass, door panels, weather stripping and
everything else not listed is new.
To put
the LS-1 in with the original oil-pan I had to box in the cross member.
Some
other mods and specs include:
The
Blazer was dropped using Belltech 2 inch drop-spindles and springs on the front
and three inch blocks in the rear supported by air shocks.
The
wheels are 17 x 8 Eagle Alloy mounted on 255/45/17 Sumitomo tires.
The paint
is a single-stage white with four layers of clear-coat.
The
drivetrain is all 1999 Trans Am with 2 1/2 inch Dynomax exhaust. With the
exception of LS-6 coil covers and the rear-end.
The grill
and bumper are 94 Jimmy.
I added
1994 power mirrors.
The CD player
is 1999 factory.
I added
an Auburn limited slip differential 3.42 gears.
I put in
a 1995 S-10 rear-end so that I could put the rear disc brakes off of a 1994 Z28
on the back. (The 95 rear-end has interchangeable backing plates for brakes)
The
Blazer is a "Daily Driver" and currently runs an 7.905 in an eighth of
a mile with a 1.73 60 ft time(street tires)
IT IS FOR SALE FOR $9000....
