Note for June 24, 01: - Colin and I scrambled up The Wedge with a five hour time limit. We had to be back to Red Deer by 5:30 so we had to be off the mountain by 3:00. We found and embarked on the Wedge Creek trail at 10:30. We were at the summit at 12:45. After having 30 minutes of summit time we descended. The final ridge to the true summit isn't as bad as it looks, although a slip to the right in some places would very well be fatal. I didn't get many pictures of the climb because we didn't have alot of time to spend getting photo opportunities.

Dates Summited -June 24, 01(Kyle)

Elevation -2665m(8,743Ft.)

Elevation Gain - 1100m

Location - Kananaskis Valley

June 2, 01- After following the Wedge Creek trail for around an hour we topped out above tree line and started the scramble. We ascended farther to the left then where the trail was because the rock on the trail was really loose. Where we were the rock was solid. After gaining the actual "Wedge" shape part of the mountain we still had the traverse over to the true summit to think about which is outlined in red in the photo to the left. At parts a slip to the right would be fatal while a slip to the left would be very painful, if not fatal.

June 02, 01- Here I am on top of the Wedge. The traverse to the actual summit took about ten to fifteen minutes and was fun at parts. At one part we had to straddle the ridge which is very painful on the body.

June 2, 01- Here Colin is on the summit. This was his first "Difficult" scramble and he found out that he has no exposure problems which is a good thing if you want to be a hardcore scrambler! Mt. Kidd's ascent route is outlined in red in the background.

June 2, 01- Here is the sea of Peaks that we saw on the summit. The mountain right in front is Opal Ridge. Mt. Sarrail, Foch, Fox, and Joffre are visible in the background but I'll let you find them in this sea of peaks .
