Note for August 17, 01: - Colin and I ascended Mt. Niblock in 3 hours and 35 minutes. Ian wanted to rest for the day. The weather was very smokey due to the fires in Kooteney National Park. We tried the traverse over to Mt. Whyte but turned back due to the technicality of the route. Mt. Niblock is a pretty popular scramble.

August 17, 01- I apologize for the lack of pictures of the actual route for this peak. I never really thought about taking pics during this day. Anyway, here I am standing next to a giant rock on the upper ridge. The scrambling up to the ridge is pretty loose.

August 17, 01- Here is Colin doing a bit of scrambling right before the summit. As for the route above the ridge, either way on the ridge works and the routes tend to intermingle a bit. It is very popular and route-finding should pose no problem.

August 17, 01- Here I am on the summit. The views weren't all that good because of the fires in Kooteney. I don't think that Mt. Niblock should be as popular as it is. The scrambling isn't good but the views are great. Maybe that is why.

August 17, 01- Here is Mt. Whyte and it's glacier. The route is shown that ascends Mt. Whyte. We attempted the traverse but turned back because we didn't think it would be a good idea with just the two of us. See Mom and Dad, I do make wise decisions when I am up there!
