Note for June 19, 04: - Went up Narao Peak Saturday in perfect early summer conditions with Colin S. We left the trailhead at noon and it was scorching. The thrashing up to treeline was sick with shrubs and shorts on. From treeline, we spotted a small waterfall leading to the ridge. We scrambled over talus to this falls and filled our water bottles. The cold water was refreshing and we pushed it up terrible scree to the ridge. We climbed the ridge directly on the two moderate sections which led to the false summit then shortly after the true summit. 4 hours to this point. The summit had some of the best views I've ever seen and we stayed on the summit for over an hour soaking up the sun and relaxing. On descent we came across a group of six people who were employed by the Lake O'Hara Lodge company. They turned around at the false summit. The descent was fast as we glissaded down the remaining snow slopes. At treeline I realized that my arms were completly burnt. The shwacking back down to the access road was easier coming down but lasted way too long. Another great day in the mountains.

Colin getting some fresh water at the waterfall. We both had a litre of water plus a two litre bottle of sprite and it was gone by this point. The cold water almost tasted as good as the sprite. The bushwacking was really bad where we came up to treeline. I think we headed up from the Lake O'Hara road earlier than we should have.

This is looking over to Pope's peak from the summit ridge of Narao. It took us 2.5 hours to get to the ridge.

The ridge leading along to the summit on the left.

One of the moderate sections. On the way up we stuck to the ridge which was loose in places. I cleared off a huge stone that looked solid. The footprints are visible in the snow from the way down.

Going up the rocky ridge.

This is the view of Mt. Victoria (left) and the Goodsir Twins from the false summit.

Here we are, finally at the summit. We spent an hour and a half here takin er easy.

Mt. Stephen is the first peak right of center.
