Note for July 5, 04: - Colin S and I went up Mount Burstall Monday in varying conditions. We carried on the trend of late starts at a mediocre 12PM. It was relativly sunny all morning and carried on until we got to the col at 1:30. When we reached the col, the clouds socked in and it started to rain. We took a break here and started thinking about turning around. Soon enough, the clouds broke apart and we waited another 45 mins at the col for the rocks to dry out a bit. The summit ridge is interesting and exposed at a few sections and I didn't find it terribly loose. Short and sweet. 5 hours round trip.

Dates Summited -July 5, 2004

Elevation -2,760m

Elevation Gain - 890m

Location - Smith-Dorrien

It really started getting cold once we got to the top of the col and we were seriously thinking about turning around. Instead, we waited out the weather behind this cornice which sheltered us from the wind.

Smart choice. Twenty minutes later the clouds left. The scramble route follows the moss and scree on the right, then follows the ridge left towards the main summit.

Miseria Cantare - The Beginning

The harder part of the route which follows the crack/slab on the left.

Colin kicking the crux.

Looking over to Mount Nestor from the summit.

Glissading our way back down to treeline.
