Water and moisture are the worst enemies of your electronic speed control and receiver. This is a low-cost way to keep your investments dry and functioning, so you can tear it up through mud, puddles, and through the snow.

First you’ve got to make sure you are running a setup that will not get too hot. Run your truck hard and go through a couple batteries. As soon as you are done take off the body and feel the top of your electronic speed control. If it is not hot enough to melt the plastic (warm is ok), then you can use this setup.

The example shown on the Novak Rooster uses a small parts baggie with the bottom end cut off so that the bag is open both top and bottom. You simply slip the bag over the ESC and use twist ties on the open ends to close the open ends around your wires. Covering your receiver is even easier, you don’t need to cut the bag, just slip it over the end without the wires and close the other end with the twist ties.

Make sure your speed control and receiver are secured in your chassis. A piece of double sided tape will usually keep them from moving around, just test the hold before you run. Also it’s a good idea to make sure you don’t have any water condensation inside your bags, periodically remove your twist ties when you aren’t running to air everything out. If you see any water inside the bags disconnect your battery immediately and air-dry everything.
