Milford: Over MacKinnons Pass

The third day of tramping was probably the greatest. We hiked up to MacKinnons pass on a track surrounded by all these beautiful, white alpine flowers. All the way we were hiking in a thick cloud and at the top it was freezing cold and windy...and no visibility what so ever! As the clouds started to clear away, we went back up to the saddle, put our packs in the shelter and went up to the cliff again to see the huge valleys underneath us. We ended up spending 4 hours on the saddle, just enjoying the scenery and the now blue sky! After a long hike downhill, we reached Sutherland Falls and took the most fierce shower I have ever had in my life!

We didn't even believe Erik when he first said that there was a mountain right over there. Here we are waiting for the cloud to clear (Erik, me, Pete)

And the clouds cleared away!

Here we are, on the cliff overlooking spectacular valley scenery
