Club/Team NEWS

August 27, 2001 - Back at school news. -Brad (Phantom$niper)

Now that we are all back at school I can start devoting alittle more time to the club. It will not be my top priority since we are at school. Just to admit the bad stuff first. Yes I completely forgot about the club night this Wednesday. We have so much planning to do for that and I forgot to even sign us up so all day tomorow while I have only one class I will be spending most of my day doing stuff to help out with that. If anyone reads this in time and can help us on club night even if it is just for half an hour or something I need all the help I can get. Also the tourney has been moved to the 15th of September because of a conflict with the Berry Ivitational X-Country meet. Now I get news that I will have to be at a retreat for club leaders but not sure about that yet. No matter what happens from this point the tourney will be September 15th. Any other questions please e-mail me the links are all over the place. -Brad July 13, 2001 - Even on an evil day ;-) absolutely fabulous news -Brad (Phantom$niper)

Today on my trip up to berry to fix my schedule I got some of the greatest news in Berry Paintball History. We now have a great sponsor. On my ramblings today I headed over to Big Daddy's Paintball. I talked to him about our tourney and it will be on either the 8th or the 15th of September. No problems there so we just need to get some of the specifics to him and we will be set. Along that line if we have enough teams he will donate shirts and trophies for the winners, which is great. Then I got to talking with him about our club and his eyes got as big as my fist. Then he said that he will be our field sponsor which means the team will get to use the field for free. He also said that since we have the club he will also sponsor us and se what kind of deals he can get us on equip and that kind of stuff. He has a deal with SmartParts for sponsorship so hopefully that may be tranfered to us and they make some great stuff so that would be awesome. All of this plus I got our letter to all new members (aka everyone) turned in to Sue Tarpley today. One of only two clubs to do so. Maybe being this on top of things will help us get a field on campus. Who knows? Any who that is the great news for today. Also if anyone is looking for some excelent equip and doesn't mind getting some slightly used stuff Big Daddy has a bunch of really high end stuff at not too bad of prices so if you are interested let me know and I will see what I can do.

June 25, 2001 - The new Forum -Brad (Phantom$niper)

Today I got our new forum up and running. Feel free to go chat about stuff or just post your rantings about berry paintball. Please keep the talk to paintball related stuff since it is the Berry College Paintball Forum. If you do put something up there that isn't paintball I may erase it I may not depends on how good a mood I am in at the time I see it. Anyway use this to talk to other berry paintball players.

June 3, 2001 - Berry's ruling on support -Brad (Phantom$niper)

Today after throughly reviewing the webboards and posts on the college-paintball website, and after talking with some of the team and club members The Berry College Paintball Club and The New Breed Paintball Team are now supporting Chris Raehl and the original NCPA {National Collegiate Paintball Association}. In making this decision we looked at the various benefits of either side and the possible futures for both and decided that Chris has served the collegiate paintball community fully and selflessly the entire time he has served. Not only did he do this without taking a cent of profits but he also did this with people breathing down his neck for changes in the current structure. We thank Chris for his continued efforts even in the face of possible lawsuits from the likes of the USPL {United States Paintball League} and its associates who shall remain nameless on this website. Many things have been happening lately and with all of this swarming about the one thing that stands out about Chris is his loyalty to the players. The others want to force us to sign contracts in order to be in their league and to pay dues per person. Chris simply asks that you pay for entry costs into the various tournaments that you play in. This is the extent of the information I plan to put on this website for the time being, because I am afraid that I will make up your mind for you. Visit the webboards at College-Paintball.com and see for yourself. Come to your own conclusions. Then if you have something to discuss with me e-mail me please and I will discuss any of the details with you. You are free to support either side, but the Berry College Club and Team now officially (and for those that I have talked to personally) side with Chris Raehl and the original NCPA.

June 1, 2001 - Worrying News on the inter-collegiate front -Brad (Phantom$niper)

Today after a busy day at work I came home to some shocking news. No the dog didn't die... I went browsing again on one of the many forums I frequent, and since I had last been to this particular one much had happened in the world of collegiate paintball. Much to my dismay there is a war going on between two groups of people over... well what it is over is distorted at times... but mainly it is about which of two groups is the actual National Collegiate Paintball Association. With this turn of events it looks as if the situation may get ugly. To keep our team and club from being dragged into something we want to keep out of The Berry College Paintball Team and The New Breed Paintball Team are officially neutral in this matter. In all actuallity the executive council has decided to not take a side until the dispute is over with. No person other than myself is to represent either our team or our club in a public domain on the topic of this matter!!! If you have any input other than that we have gotten from members so far feel free to e-mail Brad. You may talk about this issue with others; however, IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM ARE YOU TO REPRESENT THE CLUB OR TEAM IN ANY OFFICIAL CAPACITY BEFORE TALKING TO ME!!!!!!!!!!! Until further notice all official responsiblilties of public relations is hereby terminated until permission has been granted by the Executive Council. This is a very serious matter and once a finalized contract from either side is distributed it will be posted in the readings section. Please keep up to date on the happenings of this issue for it may be one of the first votes you cast as part of the Berry College Paintball community.

May 19, 2001 - The First Ever Berry 5-Man Tourny -Brad (Phantom$niper)

Plans and negotiations are now under way with Big Daddy's Paintball to have the first ever Berry College 5-Man Tourny. We are also looking for other good places to have it so if anyone has any ideas feel free to e-mail me. In answer to the first question that I am going to get is NO WE CANNOT PLAY PAINTBALL ON SCHOOL GROUNDS!!!! IF YOU ARE CAUGHT PLAYING PAINTBALL ON SCHOOL GROUNDS YOU WILL BE KICKED OUT OF THE CLUB AND OFF THE TEAM IF YOU ARE ON IT!!!! We have not yet been given permision to play on school grounds. As it was we had to clearly state to the Student Life Council that we would not play on campus just so we could get the club. No exceptions of disciplinary actions (see Viking Code or Club rules and regulations if you have any questions) will be made if you are caught.

May 15, 2001 - Loosing a Part of the Team -Brad (Phantom$niper)

No he is not dead just leaving. I found out recently that we are losing our Treasurer, Ryan Bennett. He is not coming back next semester for various reasons, and will be sorely missed. As he is leaving he opens up the spot of Treasurer, so anyone who would like to take his place, or attempt to ;) feel free to e-mail me and we will put your name down as an election candidate for our first meeting.
