Due to some people (mostly avid Camaro fans, not to point fingers...honestly) sending emails to inform me that some of my claims are "wrong and stupid,"  despite my own experiences, I would ask that anyone who reads through here keeps an open mind.  If you think I'm a liar, do me a favor if you would....push the X in the top right of your window, hop in your car, or your friend's car, and go find someone with SHO imprinted on their back bumper.  Then after they leave you in the dust and deflate your ego a little you can ask them to enlighten you on how they did it.

For the record, Im not saying SHOs are the fastest thing on earth, I'm just asking that you give them the respect they deserve.  And, to those people who have taken your camaro or any other car and given it 300+ hp and taken the time to love, modify and take care of it, I offer you very much respect.  It's people like you who inspire me to make my car faster and inspire me to take better care of it than myself at times.

Enjoy my webpage :)

Taurus SHO - Not Your Everyday Taurus

With a top speed of over 140 mph and acceleration that'll embarrass many sports cars, the old Taurus SHO may be the ultimate Q-ship of the automotive world.

Q-ships, of course, were developed by the British Navy in W.W.I. Disguised as cargo ships, the big guns would be cloaked until attack was immanent. The most likely outcome was a surprised German captain and one less submarine in the German Navy.

Although the SHO has some extra body cladding, fog lights, a rear spoiler and special alloy wheels, it's difficult to distinguish it from your everyday Taurus. That's just how SHO owner's like it. Looking like the 3 million other Taurus' on the road means it doesn't attract the attention of the speed police.

Mechanically, the SHO gets bigger tires, a firmer suspension and the availability of a 5spd manual transmission. And when it uncloaks its big gun, a 24-valve double overhead cam 220 horsepower V6 screamer, many unsuspecting drivers don't know what hit them, either.

9/4/06:  Where's that Oil coming from?

Oh, from the Oil pan!  I decided after my valve cover gasket and plug well job that I would tackle some other gasket needing territory.  I bought some end gaskets for the pan and went to work tearing things apart.  To remove the pan you have to take off the ypipe and the starter.  I started with the ypipe because I figured it would be the biggest pain...I was only slightly disappointed.

After the ypipe was removed I got the starter off and after 14 bolts in the pan I was able to remove it.  It was a little difficult to get free but not too bad.  Also I forgot to mention, when I was removing the starter I wasnt really paying attention to how many bolts I had removed or how far along the one I was working on was but after a few turns I heard a "wooosh" sound and a very loud thud as the starter came crashing down about 1 1/2 inches from my head.  I was a little startled but just laughed when I thought of my buddy coming down to the shop to find me laying unconscious under the SHO with a starter next to my head haha.  Surprisingly that was the only close call on the whole project.  Anyway below are pics of the motor without the pan...everything looks good.

Here the pan sits....filthy and awaiting a hot bath at work.  It was actually really clean inside though.  There was some oil in the bottom and you cant tell from the pictures but I was happy to see there wasnt any sludge, metal shavings, french fries or anything else down there.

The pan got washed up at work looks oh so nice.

I got everything back together and everything was fine...for awhile.  I dropped the pan again because the front was leaking a little so I did another round of RTV on the whole pan and put her all back together and the problem seemed to be fixed....hmmm seemed to be.  I havent done the whole process again yet but since the front is STILL leaking I will do it again once I do another oil change, which should be soon.  Im going to get my exhaust fixed soon as well so maybe I can do it all in one shot.  Its just been too cold lately to get anything accomplished.  Incase you were wondering, yes it did take me this long to update the web site....its Februray...haha.  Anyway below are some misc pictures from september.  Oh and if anyone caught it, Sept 4th was my 23rd birthday so all I did for my birthday was work on my SHO...oh the dedication!

The 95 and 97 sitting outside my shop.  The 97 left my ownership on 1/24/07, sadly, I could not afford it anymore.  I guess now I can mod my Gen2's with the money Im saving.

Well the list of maintenance for the 95 continues and I think bushings will be getting replaced soon as mine are far from good.

This picture just makes me laugh and will be my next project in photoshop.  It looks like my 95 is racing the black SHO and is also rear wheel drive.  What a launch!

Ok and if you happen to be wondering "Whose Triple black 93 SHO is that?"...its mine.  I bought it in August of 2006 and went on a very long trip up to Mosinee Wisconsin to get it.  Some of its mod's include a 3.2 from an auto SHO and a Dynomax Catback...but believe me thats just the tip of the iceberg.  I will be making a page devoted to it soon.  This picture was taken a few weeks after we got back from the trip.  I know I said that I was going to do the 3.2 swap to the 95 but I think I want to keep it stock for now and do some other much needed maintenance before I do that, if I ever do.  The 93 is set up nicely for a Supercharger and it may be getting one soon.  Who knows...
