A Brief History of Dave Frisbee
It began on a calm Tuesday... a little too calm.
A little, little, little, too calm. So calm in fact, that calmness was but a memory
in the memories of those who were caught in this calmness. Yes, it was quite calm
indeed. Calm... yes... calm. Then it was Wednesday. Nothing really happened on Tuesday.
Anyway, we were off on this also rather calm day, playing bocce. It was a hot day.
Yes... very hot. As we roamed around the fields near us, the game steadily got less
coherent. In a few short minutes, we all just threw our bocce balls down to the end
of a playing field that we came to and fell down on the ground. And so it went for
quite a while. Eventually someone got up, and realized that we had a frisbee. I never
really was sure where this frisbee came from, I can only guess that God himself intervened
that day. So we languidly rose from the comfy grass, and began to play a rather boring
game of frisbee. This went on for a while, until we realized that we weren't really
having much fun. So then we tried "500 in the pot" but that didn't really
work out that well. After that, it was back to the ground. We remained therefor a
while, until that fateful moment came. Our good friend , Raphaelle, attempted to
get the frisbee from Dave (Sydney). This was an interesting premonition, but I will
get into that later. Soon it had turned into a large game of keep away pitting all
the people named Dave (3 people) against all those not named Dave (4 people). Well,
your caring narrator quickly became tired and keeled over on the ground. I remained
here for some time, still attempting to get the frisbee without leaving the ground.
The basics of Dave Frisbee had been lain, now it began to take on a life of its own.
I quickly discovered that the best way to move around the field of play was to latch
on to another player, and let them do the work for me. Soon I was moving around the
field with only minor bruises. After I learned this didn't work, I latched onto people
to take their shoes. Don't question my logic, at the time it seemed the way to go.
Anyway, I began throwing the shoes at the frisbee, but that really isn't important,
it more or less only gives one an idea of the extensiveness of Dave Frisbee. This
game came to a close that afternoon, but the idea was firmly in the minds of the
Daves. That night, Dave frisbee was formed. People ran joyously through fields of
green, only to be savagely reaped by other players longing for the frisbee. And so
began the firm tradition of Dave frisbee. The Daves and the honorary Daves play to
this day, still trying to figure out how exactly it is one scores.
