A Mouth-Watering Metaphor....
When I look into my bowl of vegetable soup I love seeing a bright orange carrot, a shiny white potato, a lovely brown piece of meat, a happy green pea, and translucent onions all swimming in a glistening light brown broth. To me that is America, the land of the free. Let’s all keep our identity, the celebrations of out distinct heritage while all swimming together in the broth.
Let everyone honor their family rites, and together we can commemorate the Universal ones...like Thanksgiving. Speak your native tongue among others that understand, but speak a common language...American English in the streets, among the greater group of people.
Do we really want to become a big bowl of murky stew? I don’t think so. Do you?
