MUSIC and MY GUY

MUSIC

I am a great lover of music in all it's forms. I would surely go mad without my music. My appreciation for music began as a young child. You see my Mother also loved music, and our home was quite often filled with it. I was exposed to many different types of music at an early age. My Mother liked to take me to ballets and I am told that while I enjoyed the performances I was more interested in the orchestra pits. My Mother enjoyed a wide variety of music ranging form classical to folk to rock. Some of my fondest memories are of my Mother playing her LP's (for you youngins' out there, that's what we called records)of Jefferson Airplane, Cat Stevens, The Beatles, Pink Floyd (even though some of their sounds used to scare the hell out of me when I was all alone in my bedroom)The Allan Parson's Project, oh and of course The Rolling Stones, without whom I never would have aquired my name. (They had a single entitled "Ruby Tuesday" that was out around the time of my birth)

Since it was just Mom and I we did alot together. We hit alot of folk festivals, and met alot of cool and talented people. Some of which are still playing music today. Although I have been to many concerts I have yet to make it to as many as my Mother, as she still attends them quite frequently, her latest kick has been 54-40. I think she has seen them 3 or 4 times. My first concert was with her to see ELO (Electric Light Orchestra)and I believe the last concert that I went to was with her as well and that was to see Collective Soul. Come to think of it I believe the majority of the concerts I have gone to have been with her. Here's a list of some of the concerts I have attended:

As far as today's music, I enjoy many different types. I like 'artistic' musicians who try new things because they want to, not worrying what will sell. Give me someone with only a guitar and a good voice, and I could listen for hours. I don't really get into those 'boybands' and all their propaganda. (However I will admit that some of them harmonize quite well) It amazes me when I see fans who get so caught up in it all, it's as if it consumes them. I sometimes think those fans lose sight of the actual music and it becomes more of an image thing. I have never really been that fanatical. When I enjoy a song it's not because of the band, it's because of the music itself or the lyrics. I think that is why I have such an ecclectic assortment of music.I tend to be a voice admirer first and foremost. I like the unique ones. And I am willing to listen to just about anything once. Here is a list of some of the music that I enjoy:

MY GUY

I have added a section about my guy on my music page, because aside from being the love of my life, he is also a musician, and a damn good one at that! He will most definately hate the idea of me gushing about him but... it must be done.
We'll call him Michael because...well, because that's his name!

Michael is not a professional musician, meaning his music is not his sole source of income. He is a "computer nerd" by day.(just kidding honey)When I met Michael he was going to school finishing up what he needed to be certified.(he is now certifiable ha ha) He put in alot of hours studying but it all paid off when he landed the job that he had been hoping for. He is very capable when it comes to computers, and I know he enjoys the fact that there is always something new to learn. But his real love (besides me) is for music, and justly so. Music has been a huge part of his life for many years, first just playing then later singing. Michael has been in many bands, but has decided to go it alone for a while. He has been trying his hand at recording his own stuff and hopes to get a CD out in the future. For now he is back out performing once again, which I think is great, cause I just can't hear enough of him. Now I know you're probably thinking that I'm biased, but I thought Michael had a voice "smoother than butter" before I ever started going out with him. But if you don't want to take my word for it, then check out his website at www.michaelbrant.com (it's on my links page) and maybe you can catch one of his gigs.

I'm pretty confident you won't be dissapointed!
