Passion of the INRI

[Wednesday 17th March 2004]

INRI attended a screening of Mel Gibson's latest masterpiece The Passion of the Christ yesterday. After some speculation in the press that they make land a song on the film's soundtrack fans were interested in what the band thought of the film. John Paul said it was 'quite good really' and 'there was heaps of gore which I rate highly. Although I'm not exactly a film critic.' When asked if he was gutted that they failed to get on the soundtrack INRI's witty vocalist replied: 'Not as much as Braveheart.'

Movie Rumours with Mel Gibson

[Thursday 10th September 2003]

Rumours are flying once again this time in Hollywood. At this stage INRI can neither confirm nor deny any involvement in Mel Gibson's latest project which may or may not be a film about the life of Jesus Christ. Band front-person John 'Popey' Paul told the press this morning that 'the possibility of one or more of [INRI's] songs appearing on the film soundtrack is at this stage purely speculative.'

Hello to our fans

[Thursday 10th July 2003]

Official Press statement concerning the events of 31/3/03

[Sunday 14th April 2003]

This is an Official press statement from INRI intended to lay to rest all the rumours flying around like anarchists on judgment day. On the afternoon of 31st of March Ian Browning, otherwise known as 'Mushroom Mugzee', INRI's drummer, was involved in a automobile drama. He and two friends fell asleep in the back of a van parked on a river bank near the Rangitikei rivermouth. The tide came in and swept the van out to sea. Luckily a local night fisherman spotted them, now awake and waving and calling for help, and called a rescue helicopter. In the course of the experience Ian Browning did lose his right arm attempting to fasten the helicopter's hook to the van. He is in hospital and is recovering well and appreciates all those supporting him and sending gifts. INRI has not disbanded and has no intentions to stop recording.

Nice to drop in...

[Friday 31st January 2003]

INRI would like to say hi and thanx to all our fans we met at Parachute on the weekend. especially:Kate, Toni, Mary, Jane, Anthea, Mark($L), Joseph and Petey. There were a lot of great bands this year. See you next year.

INRI @ PARACHUTE'03

[Saturday 11th January 2003]

You can see INRI at the 2003 Parachute Festival in Matamata. In early September after they released the news that they would reform, record and tour, they were approached to perform at the phenomenon known as Parachute even though applications for bands had, at that time, closed. At first the band did not feel at a standard to perform there but now, says front man Popey, they believe they are. Sadly, it is now way too late for them to be squeezed into the tight programme so they will not perform after all. But they will still attend it and will be available to sign autographs and talk to fans. Popey said 'It's kind of like a Christian Big Day Out. See ya there!'

Merry Christmas

[Monday 16th December 2002]

INRI would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas

INRI reform for new album and tour.

[Thursday 26th July 2002]

INRI announce today that they are reforming for another album and tour.

The decision was made after a year break where the mambers of the band had time out from their vitually non-stop touring. INRI say they have had time to recooperate get their feet back on the ground and catch up with friends and family.

Frontman John 'Popey' Paul says that he has spent his time away from the band making up for valuable family time like learning to surf with his son Hosiah and playing playstation with his two nephews and shopping with his partner Tone and 'basically just "keeping it real" with Jesus.'

He also says the band is coming back with some exciting new ideas for the studio and the stage so watch out!

In August 2000 INRI finished touring their first album on which they broke 'a personal record' in cd sales. They stated in January 1999 and planned to only tour the South Island for three months. However, due to their popularity, so many youth groups and churches asked them back that as soon as they got back to Invercargill (their home town) they thought they had better do another round (not unlike drummer Mugzee's favourite, Havoc and Newsboy's 'Victory Lap' show). Whilst doing this they were asked up the North Island and on another round, over to OZ. 'That took us all out,' says Popey. 'That and God who wanted us to relax and Keep it Real.'

They do not yet know where they will record the forth coming album, as Popey says 'we haven't had this much money before so we haven't had to decide these sort of things before. The first record was only recorded off the PA at church during a jam one night.'
