3 Inch Performance Accessories Bodylift

Instructions to install the 3" body lift:

1. Follow instructions carefully.

2. Block tires so the truck doesn't roll.

3. Disconnect battery cables, making sure the negative cable is removed first.

4. Check bed alignment to cab and record measurement.

5. Drain radiator. Depending on condition, you may or may not want to save your coolant.

6. Disconnect all hoses and remove shroud and radiator.

7. Remove wiring harness from clips on passenger side fenderwell.

8. Remove ground wire from firewall.

9. Remove brackets that hold power brake lines to firewall and remove brackets that hold throttle cable to top of firewall.

10. Remove brake lines from clips on passenger side front, firewall and fenderwell.

11. Remove vacuum lines from clip on passenger side of frame.

12. Remove bracket holding power steering hose to front of frame on passenger side.

13. Remove the two bolts from cab straps under the rear of cab and ground wire.

14. Remove bolts from brackets holding smog lines on driver side fenderwell.

15. Recheck all wires, hoses, cables, etc. in engine compartment for sufficient length prior to lifting cab.

16*. Remove steering column.

*AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you decide not to chop your steering column, skip this step.

The red circled areas in the following image is where the bolts are loosened to lengthen the shaft. Using a small hammer or rubber mallet, slowly tap the shaft so it slides downwards, but do not remove completely. Make sure there is enough "bite" left on the shaft to prevent it from slipping off while driving.

The steering column can be lengthened without removing it from the vehicle. Continue to step 17.

17. Remove the transmission and transfercase shift boots.

18. Remove rear jump seat (King Cab).

19. Remove kick plates and pull carpet from floor to access the body bolt.

20. Loosen 6 cab bolts, but DO NOT remove.

21. Remove bolts from left side of cab.

22. Be sure to use wooden blocks between the body and jack to prevent body damage when lifting the body. Jack left side of cab up approximately 2". Double check slack in wiring.

23. Using the larger (thicker) lift blocks for the cab, continue jacking until all the lift blocks can be set in place on the rubber frame pads.

24. Insert cab bolts. Install hardware and fasten, but DO NOT tighten.

25. Repeat steps 21-24 for right side of cab.

26. Install two steel spacers 2x3 with holes on cab straps, but DO NOT tighten. Install ground extensions to cab.

27. Remove fuel filler hose and vent from filler neck.

28. Loosen bed bolts, but DO NOT remove.

29. Remove bolts from left side of bed.

30. Jack left side of bed approximately 2" and double check slack in wiring.

31. Continue jacking until all left side blocks can be set in place on the rubber frame pads. Install 2x3 steel spacers at the center bed on frame; tack weld these later. JB Weld can be used temporarily until you find a friendly welder.

32. Insert body bolts, install hardware, but DO NOT tighten.

33. Repeat steps 29-32 for right side of bed.

34. Check cab and bed alignment then tighten all cab and bed bolts. Tighten cab strap.

35. Cut fuel filler hose and install extension. Use hose clamps and fasten securely.

36. Install new fuel vent hose with clamps and tighten securely.

37*. Cut or grind off stock lower radiator mount. Cut just behind stamped holes on sheet metal from frame rail to frame rail.

*The radiator can be left in the original location if an electric fan is used or if the fan shroud is removed, but may not cool the engine as effectively. Be sure to use longer radiator hoses if the old ones are kinked or cracked.

38. Place the new radiator bracket on the original mounting location. Center it between the welded nuts on crossmember. Scribe two small marks on crossmember using the two holes on the new bracket and drill them using a 1/8" drill bit. Use two 12x1" sheet metal screws to fasten bracket to crossmember. You may also want to use JB weld to secure the bracket to the body.

39. Install two radiator drop down brackets to stock upper radiator mounts. Install radiator and shroud to new mounts. Reinstall hoses and check for fan clearence. Refill with coolant.

40. Install new vent hose on passenger side of firewall. Install power steering line bracket to extension then to the frame on passenger side.

41. Remount smog lines on driver side and throttle cable and power brake line to firewall.

42. Remount rear jump seat (King Cab).

43*. Reinstall steering column:

*Refer to step 16.

44. Install front bumper:
Bolt four bumper extension brackets to stock brackets that are welded to the frame, then mount the bumper to the new brackets. Align as necessary by adjusting the bolts.

45. Cut the plastic frame from inside of shift boot to engage 4LO without obstruction. Remove the styrofoam from inside the shift boot and remount in cab.

46*. Tack weld bed spacers to frame.

*Refer to step 31.

47. Start engine and check for leaks.

48. Make sure transfercase shifter engages 4LO. If not, notch the floorpan.

Reinstall carpet and plate.

49. Double check vehicle:
