Chart Lesson 1              Cheonkido Martial Arts   

        

                            

The first thing to do is to print this page so you can have a copy of the chart. You will need it to follow  future lessons as you build your knowledge and understanding of Cheonkido.

           

                                                  Left Foot                   12 o'clock                  Right Foot

                                                                                 

  The cutouts above are from the chart above it. Your left foot is on the even numbers and the right foot is on the odd numbers. If you are standing in a natural stance you would be in the 2-1 position or as we call it the twenty-one  position. You are looking straight ahead in the 12 o'clock direction. It doesn't matter how many times you move or turn you are always in the 12 o'clock direction. All foot patterns are changed from this setting.

Now let's apply a low side kick with the right foot in the 12 o'clock direction to strike the knee. From this 21 position turn your left foot to the 10 position and side kick with the right foot but keep your eyes in the striking position. Retrieve your kicking foot and place it down next to the left foot back to 21. You are now facing at 12 o'clock and in 21 position and your target is at 3 o'clock.
