1980 Fiat X1/9, Five Speed Carb
The Fiat X1/9 is quickly becoming a nostalgic Italian sports car. The
car offers affordability to those who want a true sports car without
breaking the bank. Stock parts are relatively cheap and available at
several suppliers nationwide. |
The X1/9 also has several
performance upgrades to increase power and fender flares to add to its
already attractive Italian styling and aerodynamics. Fiat pulled out
of the U.S. in the early 80's but the X1/9 was still available by it's
designer, Bertone. It was therefore called the Bertone X1/9 until the
last one manufactured in 1989. Driving the car is like driving a
go-cart on the streets. Few sports cars can corner like this baby
Ferrari.

PT Cruiser |
|
|
|
In November 2000 I purchased a 2001 PT Cruiser. It is
a 5 Speed manual Limited Edition. I have read a lot of complaints
about the car being underpowered but the 5 speed isn't quite the dog the
automatic has been rated. There are numerous performance upgrades as
well as aftermarket parts and accessories for the PT Cruiser. The
Cruiser has a huge following, both young and old and is a great car to
personalize with accessories.
Sometime in the future I will add running boards to my
Cruiser and possibly chrome bumpers.
The only modifications my cruiser has currently is a pool
ball shifter, the 7 ball to match the red paint and a towing package from
Cole Muffler. I installed the Chrysler wire harness myself.

Custom PT Cruiser
The other Cruiser styles I like are the panel version and
the Dream Cruisers.
The 2003 Dream Cruiser was my favorite, Orange with black and orange leather
interior.
Turbo versions have been available for a couple years.
Do not expect a 6 cylinder, Chrysler nearly scrapped the Cruiser altogether
because of the lack of room, only 3/8" total clearance with the 4 cylinder.

Chevy Nomad Concept Car
GM has finally recognized the retro popularity with its new SSR and now the
possible production of a new Chevy nomad. Looking at the updated
version |
of the Nomad, the front end of the car
reminds me of the early Corvette designs. From the headlight shapes to
the front grill design. Even the dash cluster mimics the Corvette
dash. The proposed power plant will put its driver through the
tailgate. The power plant in this one will be impressive.
All I have to say is hurry up Chevy...this one won't stay in the show
rooms long.

Trucks |

Came across this retro fit for GM trucks while doing a search on the Chevy
SSR. If you like the look of the SSR but not the price tag ($40K) this
is an inexpensive way to achieve that old truck look without breaking the
bank ($2000). Headlights and turn signals are extra. Total cost
is about $2400 and fits on 1988 -1998 trucks. The kit consists of the
front grill and hood, keeping the existing fenders in place |
