FAITH IS NOT FROM YOURSELF AND IT'S NOT JUST WISHFUL THINKING

Faith doesn't emanate from a person's own self.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8-For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-
9-not by works, so that no one can boast.

If a person says that you just have to have faith, then that person is confused about what faith is. Faith is not something that you can bring out from inside yourself. Faith comes from understanding God's word.

Romans 10:17
17-So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

In this context hearing means understanding.

Faith is more than wishful thinking. Faith is more substantial than just hope and it is more tangible than just things that can't be seen.

Hebrews 11:1
1-Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is substance and evidence that comes from understanding God's word.

Faith is more than just trusting and believing.
