Elizabeth's Family is the most important element in her life. They are the reason she was found. They cared and loved her so much. The search for her was so extensive because of her families efforts to find her. While she was gone her parents, Lois and Ed Smart, went through many sleepless nights and many dramatic break downs. They had a very hard time, as any parent would with having a child abducted. They had strong faith in their heavenly father which kept them strong when carrying through with the rest of there life. Elizabeth have many strong relationships with many family members. Her only sister Mary-Katherine was very close to her and was the only witness to her abduction. While Elizabeth was gone Mary-Katherine missed her dearly and wrote her letters and saved her things all of the time. Her whole family, along with many other people, wore blue ribbons, in a way of rememberence of her and hope for her to return. Her family organized many searches for her and did everything they could to bring Elizabeth home.
