| Blink 182 was formed in 1992 by Mark Hoppus, Tom Delonge and Scott Raynor. Originally they went by the name of Blink but soon discovered that there was an Irish Techno band already called Blink who were threatening to sue.The numbers 182 were completely random and have no meaning what so ever to do with the band although they often joke about it standing for such things as the number of sexual acts they have performed on each other and so on.
| 1995 saw the release of Blinks first full album Cheshire Cat. Their previous recordings Buddha and Flyswatter were just promo's / demos.
The release of Dude Ranch in 1997 was the bands first album to gain widespread commercial success.

| Also in 1997 Scott Raynor the drummer in Blink 182 left the band to go back to college as he felt it was important he obtained qualifications to provide him with security and stability in later life as he felt Mark and Tom were not serious enough about the band and that it would not progress any furthur and merely fade out very quickly.

| Travis Barker formerly part of the Aquabats became the new drummer of Blink as they had previously been friends for quite some time and he already knew most of their songs.
Blink spent a lot of their time touring the punk/skate/surf scene with bands such as NOFX, Pennywise, Less Than Jake and the Vans Warped Tour.
| Near the end of 1998 Blink felt it was time to stop touring and start the recording for their next album "Enema of the State". This album proved to be way more popular than Dude Ranch and made the band very well known thanks to songs on the album such as "All the small things". Enema went platinum and due to the huge increase in the bands talent Dude Ranch also went platinum.

| After the release of Enema of the State Blink started touring again which led to the creation of their next album, "The Mark Tom Travis Show" or "Enema Strikes Back" which conatined a total of 49 tracks 20 of which were songs sung live on tour and then the other 29 tracks were made up of jokes from the tour. This was a limited edition album which was sold for only a few days world wide and then became a deleted title.
| In 2001 they released "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket" which again was extremely popular and made the band yet again more popular.
| The band are now currently working on a new album due for a summer release 2003. The band have made it so you can actually watch them recording the album by setting up webcams in a huge San Diego house and performing live broadcasts.
