I worked at Rhodes Fabrication Engineering for three years at Chesterfield. I did my first teachers course at Holy Bank Polytechnic at Huddersfield for one academic year, and taught at Dewbury Technical College for one year.

I went back to do a degree course in teaching at Thames Polytechnic. After that, I taught for five years in Secondary School.

I went back again to study at Middlesex University in order to acquire more skills. I started teaching at Alperton Community School in September 2001.
