Shipwrecked!

Well I've been working so hard
just trying to get through
but so many people are
running after you
and i've been thinking of ways to get your attention
cuz they only hear you
but i really listen
and i'll take you by the hand
so i can get you alone
but you're stealing my loving through a telephone, yeah
but that's what i get for trying to keep my composure
no disrespect but i've been looking for closure
i truly regret all the things that i do
Our ship has been wrecked
but babe i'm still in love with you
well how many times can i tell you im sorry?
and how many times can i tell you i was wrong?
but there's no need to fear
you know there's no need to worry
cuz nobody here knows whats really going on
and i'll take you by the hand and we can scream it aloud
but you're stealing those kisses right from my mouth
but that's what i get for trying to keep my composure
no disrespect but i've been looking for closure
i truly regret all the things that i do
Our ship has been wrecked
but babe i'm still in love with you
well i've been working so hard just trying to get sober
i've been saying the same things over and over
what you see is what you get and i'm telling the truth
because our ship has been wrecked
but babe i'm still in love with you
NNMaddox: "This is the kind of song you know is going to be good because you almost can't stop it from being written. It was written and recorded all within a matter of hours. I compare it to 'What In The World' from David Bowie's Low because it's a series of ideas that are coming at you nonstop.
This song is about a relationship that is damaged, shows no signs of repair, but for some reason the person is hopeful. He's hopeful because he thinks that his love will prevail. I wouldn't classify it as either a happy or sad song, or even a love song. I think it's as much about the person telling the story as it is the person he's in love with. This is an instance where I think I was able to express my feelings in song better than in 'real life', as I don't think I've ever told the person that inspired 'Shipwrecked!" these words."
