No Hard Feelings

I'm breaking out of this prison cell
I'm gonna kick you when you're down
I'm so sorry I don't wish you well
But I'm not fucking around
You wear your frown on a merry-go-round
that's never coming up but always going down
and i listen to the sounds of professional clowns in human disguise
i look you in your face and tell you lies
you're such a disgrace to anyone that tries
i'll put you in your place and ask you " are you satisfied?"
I can't express just how fun this has been
but the waves of fear have gone tumblin' in
without some water a seed cannot grow
it's getting hotter but i'm buried in snow
i live in dreams i wish i could say
and i hope these nightmares will soon go away
this heart you're stealing has been growing cold
Hey, no hard feelings but i'm letting you go
Well i've been working from coast to coast
from city to city
you're telling me you believe in ghosts
I shake my head in pity
cuz if you're living to me
you gotta give it to me
you gotta show me what you got
cuz what you're not is what you see
and what you see's not what you get
if you've been thinkin' 'bout givin' up
i'll give you what you want and what you want
is what you got and what you got-
you just don't know it yet
NNMaddox: "I would love to believe this is the best song on the album. I'm not sure if everyone agrees, but it's possibly my favorite. I recorded two versions of this song. One in Spanish Harlem, and one in Queens. The Harlem version sounds exactly how I felt-defeated and helpless. The version on the album is the Queens take and it sounds triumphant.
For me, the funniest part about this song is that I practically wrote it in front of the people that it is about, but they would never guess it. I'm sure my roomates heard this song dozens of times as I came up with the lyrics literally while they were arguing. This song is my ultimate 'fuck-you' to them".
