Drinks For Free

the day has been done
it's time for my fun
things only happen at night
what did i say
for you tolook in my way?
yeah, you can join me if you like

i don't want your number
don't wanna be your friend
those things mean nothing to me
i showed up tonight
not a nickel in my sight
but all of my drinks are free

skins starts to crawling
but don't bother calling
no i won't answer my phone
i hate to be cruel
but i'm nobody's fool
everyone needs time alone
i don't want your number
don't wanna be your friend
those things mean nothing to me
i showed up tonight
not a nickel in my sight
but all of my drinks are for free

night's growing older
and i'm getting bolder
and told you a lie after lie

like dust in the wind
you let me in
and then i am robbing you blind

i say it's early
you say it's late
and it's time for you to leave

i showed up tonight
not a nickel in my sight
but all of my drinks are for free

begging and bawling
rising and falling
all of my thoughts are unknown
i hate to be cruel
but i'm nobody's fool
everyone needs time alone

don't take it to heart
i'm playing my part
and that's just the way things should be
i showed up tonight
not knowing wrong from right
got all of my drinks here for free

NNMaddox: "This was the first song written for the album. I was using a keyboard owned by a girl we were subletting from. I'm sure she'll never know I used it. I think this song is very simple. It's a humorous take on a girl that walks into a bar with no money, yet drinks all night for free. For that night, she's a social butterfly, but when not out at the bar, she's a complete hermit.

The sound on this sound is drastically different from the other tracks, and it follows The Lounge intro perfectly. This was also the last track that I used singing into a tape recorder.

I wanted this song to sound like a loung band performing."
