"Become Your Dream"
Well I've been beaten
And I've been broken
I've been screaming
Until I'm choking
But I've been dreaming
Dreaming and hoping
And now it seems that
These doors will open
So please be peaceful
And keep things fair
Don't be deceitful
'cause it gets you nowhere
Sometimes I think that I drink too much
Sometimes I think about giving you up
Sometimes I think that I've had more than enough
Sometimes I think that I think too much
Some people tell me I won't make it too far
Some people tell me I'm a superstar
And if I can I'll take it to the extreme
I can make it and become my dream
You know it's ending
Before it started
There's no hope mending
The brokenhearted
I learned more from people on the streets
Than from anybody with a college degree
So don't be spiteful
And keep your cool
And please be mindful
Even if your mind is full
Some things you use
Some things you waste
Sometimes to be successful you need the door slammed in your face
NNMaddox: "This was the final song done for Pepper Shaker. I knew I needed one more song to finish it up, so I went back to what the album starts off with. 'Become Your Dream' is probably the most famous de la Vega quote. I kept the title in quotes because I didn't want anyone for a second to think I was trying to 'steal' it. I am simply using it for inspiration.
This song is about conquering your fears. It's about earning what you have and appreciating the struggle to get it. Besides the title, the lyrics are filled with de la Vega quotes I would see on the sidewalks and on the walls of buildings. It's my final tribute to him."
