Trail Map

Fern Forest Nature Center first opened in 1985. The 254 acres include a Hardwood Hammock, Maple Cypress Wetland, Prarie area, and a Slash Pine - Cabbage Palm habitat.

You can stop by the park office and pick up a Trail Guide Book for .50¢

Right away you can see why the park is named FERN Forest ! 32 different species of ferns can be found in the park. The lush tropical tree growth provides the needed humidity and shadow for the ferns to flourish.

There is a short boardwalk trail that leads to the parks nature Center. Many different types of ferns can be seen on either side of the boardwalk.

Along side the boardwalk is a small swamp. Tiny Duckweed covers the waters surface. Giant Leather Fern looks almost prehistoric on either side.
