| With a history that dates back over a
hundred years the company of Mohammed Ebrahim Al Saffar
started off as a small private venture run by Ebrahim Mohammed
Al Saffar in the1800 's. It was one of the first manufacturers
of copper and brassware in Bahrain and in the early days
imported clothing from India and branded food products that
were exported on to other Gulf countries such as Kuwait, Saudi
and Oman. |

When
second generation businessman, Mohammed Ebrahim Al
Saffar took over the reigns, he began to make contact
with various European companies and thus the import and
export of various commodities such as rice, vermicelli,
and Dutch ghee were established along with the sale of
steel safes, office furniture and an agency dealing in
chemicals to be exported to various Gulf countries. As
the business diversified it flourished in leaps and
bounds. |

Nowadays MES is in the capable
hands of the
present Chairman Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al-Saffar. As a young
schoolboy he would spend much of his time after school with
his father learning the trade and gradually took over the
administrative correspondence of the company. After returning
from his studies in India, Jassim devoted his heart and soul
to the company always following his favorite motto "You
should always treat others the way you would like to be
treated yourself". |

He continued to work hard until one
day on he did well and in early 1956 he took a business trip
to Europe where the contacts he made then, were the catalyst
to the growth and expansion of the company into international
markets.
The success of MES has been built on a solid
foundation of sincerity, dedication, professionalism,
trustworthiness and dedication to staff and management.
However, today, by continuing to stand steadfastly by these
principles, the company has also gained an impeccable
reputation for honesty, reliability and integrity.
