Lansing Hmong American Community INC.

The Hmong American Community, Inc. is a Non-profit Organization. It was formed by the Hmong immigrants who have found themselves encounter with language and cultural barriers in their new homeland. This organization is to assist families and friends of the Hmong in the surrounding Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties of Michigan with health care, employment, immigration services, legal services, cultural adaptation, social services, and domestic violence. The Hmong Youth program provides cultural heritage classes, vocational assessment, counseling, tutoring and career exploration/planning for the youths.

Health care service is the primary need in our community. Therefore, we provide interpretation and collaborate with clinics, hospitals, local Health Departments and Department of Mental Health to eliminate panic situations. We also introduce the new Asian Americans to service providers and social service agencies. Together with other agencies, we could solve minor problems. Legal services aren't as needed in our community, but, whenever problems arise, we act as a liaison between the local service providers and the Asian Americans. We also provide translation for immigrants when applying for green card and/or citizenship. As for Employment, we help the with resumes, letters of recommendation, contact employers and employment agencies for job placements.
