Bush defends war after WMD report
President focuses on possible evidence of covert programs by Saddam regime

WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 — President Bush on Friday defended the U.S.-led war on Iraq, saying that a search for weapons of mass destruction made clear that Saddam Hussein had deceived the international community and was “a danger to the world.” His comments were in response to a preliminary report presented Thursday by CIA adviser David Kay, who said there was little evidence so far that Baghdad possessed large stockpiles of chemical or biological weapons.

Meanwhile, a senior administration official told NBC News on Friday that the Justice Department set a deadline for the White House to turn over documents related to the investigation.
