Rémi & Jane’s Wedding Plans
You have reached the official website of Jane
and Rémi’s wedding plans!
Patricia Jane McLennan & Rémi Bernard
Poissant
will
exchange marriage vows the week of February 12th –19th,
2004
on the beach at the Breezes Punta Cana resort
in
the Dominican Republic.
The following information is designed to provide you, our dearest friends and relatives,
with the details we feel you will need in order to
celebrate with us should you be able to attend.
The wedding ceremony will take place at 4:00 pm on the Beach. It will be followed by dinner, dancing, and sociables.
Some of our guests were concerned about the dress code and whether or not they would need to bring suit jackets. There will be no need for suit jackets or heavy garments, feel free to wear whatever makes you comfortable. However, long pants are necessary in some of the a la carte restaurants so be sure to pack a pair or two!
IMMUNIZATIONS
We have also had a few people ask us about immunizations for travel to the Dominican Republic.
The following information pertains to travelers living in Regina and area and was supplied by the Public Health Service Immunization and Travel Clinic which can be reached at 1-306-766-7600. Recommendations for immunizations for travelling to the Dominican Republic change according to current conditions in the country. Individuals may choose what if any immunizations they want to have prior to travel. For trips during February 2004 they recommend that you call to book appointments in September 2003 and have immunizations beginning in October 2003. They get very busy in November and December.
There is an initial administration cost of $30 per person or $50 per family.
They recommend a Hepatitis A - $34 for first dose and $27 for the second
There is a $4 charge for an immunization booklet to track your immunization history.
Other immunizations you can consider are as follows:
Update to Tetanus and Diptheria which is free, if you add an adult Polio to that the cost is $31, or you can have an adult Polio on its own for $29. (There was a polio outbreak 2 or 3 years ago).
A Typhoid immunization is $34 and is recommended if you plan to eat and drink outside of the resort at family type restaurants or street vendors.
You may choose a Hepatitis B for $25 a dose, you need three doses $75.
You may choose a Hepatitis A&B together for $51 a dose, you need three doses $153.
There is Malaria in some parts of the Dominican and you can get a prescription to take for prevention.
When you go to the clinic you will be asked to complete a health assessment form and to watch a 20 minute video on safe eating and drinking habits when travelling.
Remember you choose what if any immunization you wish to have. I hope this clears up some of the questions.
If we can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact us and keeping checking the website for updates!
The Location: Breezes
Punta Cana Beach Resort,
Dominican Republic.
The Cost: The cost for
the one-week all-inclusive
vacation is as follows: double occupancy $1,530, and
single occupancy is $1,770, triple occupancy is $1,510.
In addition to the above costs taxes per person are
$159.00. These prices are only guaranteed until July 15, 2003 after that time the prices are subject to change. We will try to keep the website up to date with price changes. A $200.00 deposit per person is required
upon booking. The balance is due 45 days prior to
departure. The sooner you are able to book the better,
as booking early will ensure availability, and we would
not want someone to be unable to come because they
waited too long to book. In addition, the above prices
include an early booking discount and could be subject to change (see travel agent
information below for booking details). If you are
planning to travel without a companion, please let us
know as we already know of others that are doing the
same and will likely be able to arrange a roommate for
you.

Departure Times and
Location: Unfortunately and
perhaps fortunately for some, The Air Transat flight to
Punta Cana, departs from Calgary. The departure time
is 11:30pm. We have looked into Westjet connections
from Regina/Saskatoon. It looks like there will be
about 3 different connector flights from Regina/
Saskatoon to Calgary on the evening of the 12th of
February, 2004. The current price of a one-way Westjet
flight is $105.00. The return flight arrives in Calgary
on Friday at 2pm. This gives you the entire weekend to
unwind from the holiday. There is also a flight from Vancouver to Punta Cana on the same day.

Travel insurance will depend on the age of the
passenger. The costs are as follows:
Ages 0-59 - $107.00
Ages 60-64 - $121.00
Ages 65-69 - $148.00
Ages 70-74 - $204.00
This insurance includes cancellation, interruption,
medical, and lost or stolen luggage. The price is dependent on the age you will be at the time of flight. If you would like
more details please give Janice a call or e-mail her as
she knows more about the insurance than Rémi and I do.

Activities for the Week of February
12th-20th
2004: Basically, anything goes! Except for
the day
of the wedding, which we are planning will likely be on
Monday the 16th of February, 2004 in the late afternoon
followed by supper at one of the a la carte restaurants.
We will update the website with more details regarding
the ceremony as they become available to us.
Alternate Travel
Arrangements: If you would like
to join us, but are unwilling to make a commitment by
July 15, 2003 feel free to make your own travel
arrangements on-line or through your own travel agent at
a later date. The only reason we requested a July 15,
2003 deadline is because we do not know when the resort
will book up and we want to ensure that everyone who is
able to come has the opportunity to book before it fills
up. Also, if you would like to bring along a companion
or partner that we have not specifically identified on
your invitation please feel free to do so. The more the
merrier!!
