Calling All Worthogs!

We’ll be meeting this Saturday, April 12th at Donna and Dennis’s east side home.

The only way into the subdivision is off of Olive - turn north on Hornet, east of Temperance Ave.  Then turn left (west) on Pine. 7230 E. Pine is the white house with red tile roof on the north side of Pine.  Parking is available along (and perpendicular to) the east side of the  citrus on the east side of the property.  Phone 456-2324.

Dave Smith will be brewing starting around 10:00on his nearly new whiz-bang system.  Andy Ramm will tentatively be grilling. Bring your sticks and balls for putting, pitching and chipping on the greens, but only for those accurate enough not to break the window in my neighbor's shop that is just behind the green!

Worthogs Take Over Bulldogs

A wet dreary morning started on March 15th  with the invasion of Bulldog’s Brewery by the Worthog Brewers. A dozen or so hearty brewers were there for the beginning of a long day of brewing on Matt Beatty’s system. A modified, to say the least, English Mild recipe was brought up to Bulldog’s big ale lineup with only a few multiplications of the calculator. Over the course of the day 30 to 40 hogs came through to help with the brewing. We had a long line of volunteers stirring the mash well beyond the doughing in of the grain. We all got our backs into it, amusing Matt and Donald Thornton.

During the mash and lauter the Hogs enjoyed home brew and pitchers of excellent Bulldog brew. Matt sent out platters of appetizers and pizza to make us happy.

The beer, officially called Hogwild Porter, is now being served at Bulldogs. Stop in at Fig Garden Village and have a pint or two of this complex, warm (7.5%) brown porter.

While you’re there try Matt’s other fine ales. Harvest Hefeweitzen, 5%, Roubidoux Rye, 6.6%, IPA, 6%, Blonde, 5%, Redwave, 5% and a Dry Irish Stout at 6.9%. I’d tell you about them, but after a pint of Hogwild things got fuzzy!

A big tip of the WortHog snout to Matt, the staff and management of Bulldog’s for hosting this unique and memorable meeting.
