Facility:
Heritage House is a unique eight bed group home in Oakville. It run by FGI with a section 19 classroom located in the basement of the home.  There is outside access from the school and contains a classroom, a therapeutic room and a crafts/games room. There is also a kitchenette and bathroom.   

Students and Teachers:
Students come from Directions in Milton, Stuart Farm in Burlington and from Heritage House in Oakville.  Most students stay for at least a semester with the goal of being reintegrated back into their home school.  The students are aged 12-16.  The teacher is employed by the Halton District School Board. The child-youth worker is employed by FGI.

School Program:
Programs are individualized to promote success for the student and teacher and to make sure the students needs are met.  The programs follow the curriculum guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education and Training. 
Heritage School promotes self-esteem, self-identity and responsibility through academics, social skills and ethical literacy.  The end goal is to have the student’s transition back into the community go as smoothly as possible.

Typical School Day:
Period 1: Quote, Journal, Capital 30 minutes
Period 2: Academics 45 minutes
Period 2: Life Skills 45 minutes
Period 3: Current Events/Social skills 40 minutes
Period 4: Academics 75 minutes
Period 5: Constructive Activities/Mentorship 35 minutes

Other day specific activities are Outdoor Education, Cooperative Games, Library Trip, Spelling and Grammar, Silent reading and Art.
