- Milky or discolored sap
- Bitter or soapy taste
- Grain heads with pink, purplish, or black spurs
- Spines, fine hairs, or thorns
- Three-leaved growth pattern
- Dill, carrot, parsnip, or parsleylike foliage
- Beans, bulbs, or seeds inside pods
