FAR BEYOND INNOCENCE [TORTURE CIRCUS] CD - AUSTRIA ~ by 'Doktor' Ronni
www.myspace.com/fbiaustria
I woke up early this morning to an apparently pleasant day. The sun was finally shining, after days upon days of constant raining. There was even a 'rainbow' in the clear blue sky, off in the distance from my kitchen window. Grabbing myself a bowl of cereal, I sat down to what I thought was going to be a nice quiet breakfast. I could hear the children outside playing, repeating one of those nursery rhyme chants over and over. Then...what happened next startled me so, that my bowl of Cap 'N Crunch fell over into my lap, milk and all. However, the sounds erupting from the next room had me soon forgetting that I had just 'creamed' the whole front of my jammies, and so I ran in to see what all the commotion was about.
Well... to my surprise, standing in front of my laptop, its sickly pigmented body covered from head to toe in tribal tattoos, was this tiny 3 foot tall 'demented clown-like imp', grinning quite evilly in my direction. By now, the music that this 'imp-clown' had obviously put on my computer, began to really kick into over-drive. I suddenly felt strange all over, as I noticed the 'twisted midget' doing something very peculiar with his hands. There was a blinding white flash, and as my vision cleared, a glittery green cloud had begun settling all around me. I felt absolutely intoxicated by the music at this point, and realized that I now had on completely different attire than the clothes in which I had woke up in.
I was shirtless, the upper half of my now muscle-rippled body covered in similiar markings as the 'psychotic' looking 'halfling' responsible for the situation at hand. Spiked gauntlets adorned most of my fore-arms to the wrists, my lower body covered in a pair of camos, and combat 'shit-kicker' boots were now upon my feet. The music coursed through my veins like poisonous blood that pumped my adrenaline to maximum capacity, the hallucinogenic properties of the 'magic dust' cloud taking full effect.
I was now in the middle of 'the mosh pit from Hell', surrounded by hundreds of the squat little tattooed 'demon-imps'. I lost all control of myself, and began bouncing off the walls, slamming into them and tossing them around like possessed little freakish 'rag dolls'. This went on for about an hour, the intense distortion of the guitars and pounding drums driving me harder and faster, as I left a wake of destruction in my path.
I must have passed out at some point, or maybe it was just a dream. Yeah...! It had to be a dream, right? There's no way that really happened... ummmm.. Wait..! What the fu.........?!?
As the blurry 'sleep vision' clouding my eyes began to clear enough that I could take in my immediate surroundings, it became quite clear that I was sitting amidst a pile of rubble. Everything was destroyed, from my living room furniture, to the crumbling walls. My television was smashed in and now lying at the bottom of my over-sized fish tank, now home to a large school of 'twisted-looking' guppies, with tiny little spiked collars. Even my lap-top had somehow become wedged in the gaping mouth of the moose head that now hung up-side down above the fireplace. Then I noticed one thing! There upon the mantle, a green glow emanating from the jewel case, was a compact disc, unscathed by the mass destruction that had befallen my home. Curious, I picked it up and began leafing through the little insert booklet, which I might add is quite impressive with its graphic images.
'Torture Circus' by FAR BEYOND INNOCENCE is one pounding CD. This Austrian-based band is quite addictive and should go 'far beyond' most bands of this genre. Tracks that I found to stand out are 'The Day I Try To Die', 'Devil In Your Fairyland', uhhh.. HELL, they're all good hard driving tracks. My personal favorite though, is 'Green Fuck Machine'.. a 'soon-to-be' Mosh Pit Classic. This band is heavier and more consistently 'pedal-to-the-metal' than the likes of even PANTERA. Buy this CD.. or I will send the little 'imp-creature' over to your house next!

DARZAMAT- Traskarpatia CD- Poland

This band is actually on my top band that I don’t get fed up listening to. On this album compare to the “Semi-Devilish” album, they evolve their music more, tackling various approaches on musicality wise.
You can’t just say that they are just a goth metal, because the tunes of black metal, atmospheric, symphonic and prog is combine all together. And lyrics wise, I am impress. Song that will transcends you into a gloomy dark mood is “letter from hell” and one song there that is more of a narrating tells about the torture of women before being accused as witches and have no choice but declare they are witch just to stop the torture. Fucking love it!
The intense music approach and the power vocals of Nera and Flauros is what makes this band worth listening to. -FONDA
WEEPING SILENCE – [END of AN Era] PROMO RELEASE (MALTA)
www.weepingsilence.com / www.myspace.com/weepingsilence / www.sleazyrider.com
This 6-piece band member hails from the deeper part of Europe which is Malta. I got to admit, being half Asian and growing up here in Middle East, Malta is not a common place I usually hear. Well, this is my first time to check a band from there so I started checking the music once I immediately got it.
Promo pack consist of 2 CDs in which I check out first the CD that contains the booklet ( PDF, Lyrics, photos, etc) since I wanted to get more details about the content of the lyrics, the band and more. Ok, time to listen to the music.
As I listen to every song which there was an intro and outro, you can say it compromises of 4 track songs. Well, I can say that it is an atmospheric, with a combination of ambient and classic goth. Reminds me of The Gault that has a gloomy approach, and Autumn Leaves vocal smoothness. I can even sense an influence of Epica if I must say. But Rachel Grech vocal style is like a bit of Dolores (cranberries?) and there’s no operatic touch which is actually not a bad thing. Kudos to Alison Camilleri, the piano and organ makes it even more pleasant to listen. Although the songs can sometimes sound having the same tempo which I notice. I like the song “Tell Me Why” which is about the passing of a love one.
So, to sum it up, the name of the band signifies the kind of music you will expect. - Fonda
JULIET’S DOWN FALL band- [TRINITY] DEMO (GERMANY)
Hmmmm.. is it me or do I sense that the song “Trinity” have a same intro with I-cant-remember-as-for-this-moment song though. Uuhhh.. ok, let me get back to that one later once the alcohol goes out of my system.
Though it’s not as hard-stomping as I expected (like to the point I will have a stiff-neck banging) or brutal to the core, his style of musicality is somewhat reminds me of a local band here Nervecell, but with a combination of Death, then jumping to a different approach of melodic death like songs of “Yielding in Silence” and “Requiem of Angels”.
The music transcends to different approach per song. Goes hardcore, then melodic, sometimes you sense a stonerock influence… don’t get me wrong, it’s good though. I guess its safer to safer it is more of an experimental band.
To sum it up, I can say this demo is ok to my hearing. And watch out for the band’s next album release! - Fonda
DEHYDRATED GOAT- [Perversion of Stabling] EP (RIGA, LATVIA)
www.myspace.com/dehidratedgoat / dehydratedgoat@gmail.com
Ahehe, this is like an album of the animal kingdom who listens to grindcore with a mix of funky upbeat. From the first song “Goat Wars”, I can’t help but grin a bit. This is just an intro, wait until you get to other tracks. The song “Feathers” makes me imagine of a goat Godfather mafia shit, arguing with the feathered animal. I know, I think I have enough of Juts for today, hehe.
To round things up, its like you’re in a barnyard and the fucking animal started to come alive and starts singing. Pretty fucked-up. If you want to listen to an experimental kind of grindcore and has humor on it, this is the one for you. Otherwise, if you think it’s weird, so stick to the same grindcore shit you are listening everyday- Fonda
NOCTURN DEAMBULATION- [Specular Writing - Preliminary before the Redemption]- EP (St. LUSE , FRANCE)
www.myspace.com/nocturdeambulation
uuhhh… ok, 1st song “lunatic asylum” is like a man playing his acoustic guitar on a stormy day. Fine, acoustic intro.
The complete music comes in from track 2 until last. Hmmm.. nope, not impress with the vocal part, but yah, he can play with the guitar pretty well. You can sense the prog influence of this person. Yes, this is actually a solo project, but he has band line-up during live performances.
This doesn’t have much of an impact to me though, but being a 1-man band, you can say that’s impressive.- Fonda
RESURRECTURIS - Non Voglio Morire - CD Album- Italy
www.myspace.com/resurrecturis
When I first got this, I was impress with the packaging and artwork of it. It also includes a DVD of the video “The Fracture” which was great. You will see the making of the vid, the people involve, the photographers, and a lot more. Now, let me focus with the music itself.
Kicks off with the song “The Origin” showing the intense death the thrash and death mixture of the song. Things runs maniacal once you reach “Corpses Forever” having a throw of Venom and Slayer influences that you can notice. And they have a female artist as a guess for the songs “The Artist” and humming from “Save My Anger” that makes it interesting. They can switched into a Prog approach in some songs. The “Walk through Fire” is my choice, playing it twice.
To sum things up, this 13-track album will transcend you start banging with your buds while listening to this, and then end it with a melodic rock approach from the last song called. “In Retrospective”. I am impress in how the way they explain the opening and close song (THE ORIGIN & then IN RETROSPECTIVE). It was a symbol of alpha and omega which the track starts with frustration and hatred on the 1st song, and then ends with serenity from “In retrospective” song. These guys takes their craft whole-heartedly, and horns up to that.
RESURRECTURIS [The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell] EP- (ITALY)
www.myspace.com.resurrecturis / www.resurrecturis.com / info@resurrecturis.com
This was release on 2004, having a great artwork cover. Well, in this release, you will hear more monstrosities than their 'Non Voglio Morire' Album.
First music on track called 'The Last Sun' will already make your head spinning, as the clock sound starts ticking¦. Power blast song to begin with.
But the 'Inversion-Perversion'¯ was my cup of tea, or should I say my bottle of beer that I start to bang my head on this heart-stopping death metal beat.
But as you proceed listening with the whole track until the end, things run as the way you expected it. Nevertheless, a systematic approach in most of the songs. Well, I can't deny the dedication and conviction they put in their music. A hardcore beat can even be notice once in a while from their songs. It will finish with the sick cuckoo sounds from hell at the last track! I never wanted that cuckoo clock, hehe.
