The People's Crusade

The People's Crusade formed as a result of Pope Urban II speech calling for people to take arms. The movement was led by a charismatic preacher known as Peter the Hermit. The went a head of the official crusader knights and caused trouble along the way. The People's Crusade massacred the Jewish populations in the Rhine land. They attacked and looted all the way to Byzantium. They eventually passed through, however failed in their goal leading the the majority of the group being massacred my the Muslim armies.
