Diagnosis

In order to be diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder, the person must be at least 18 years of age. Other criteria that must be met in order to be diagnosed with this disorder are as follows according to the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders fourth edition:

1.) Pattern of disregard for others since at least age 15, shown by at least three of the following symptoms:
a.) Lack of regard for social norms
b.) Lack of remorse
c.) Impulsivity
d.) Irritability/Aggressiveness
e.) Recklessness
f.) Irresponsibility
g.) Excessive lying

2.) This behavior does not occur with a manic episode or schizophrenia.

3.) Evidence of Conduct Disorder before age 15.

It should be noted that a proper diagnosis should be obtained by a licensed physician, psychologist, or psychiatrist in order to receive proper treatment.
