Defense Platforms have been a significant factor in protecting
resources for as long as mankind has been in space. The stationary Zues class was developed at the end of the Imperium to protect high tech worlds and strategic assets, like Depot systems. Thirty DPs were deployed to Corridor's Depot Prime as an element of the upgrades prior to the Rebellion. The use of Meson Guns vs PAWs allowed decreasing the size and cost. But worlds that are concerned about them being used for the wrong reasons prefer the PAWs. |
