the estuary which is where salt water and the fresh water meet. Three examples of estuaries are: mangroves, salt marshes, and where the mouth of a river empties into the ocean. The weather of the estuaries varies greatly because of their varying locations around the world. The daily changes of estuaries such as the salt marshes varies because of the tides. When the tide comes in the salt marshes fill up and when the tide goes out the salt mashes water level drops and you can see the silt at the bottom. There are many organisms that live in the estuary because the sun light can reach all of the plants. There are no tall trees that prevent the sun from getting to plants such as the cattail. In the estuaries there are many examples of organisms in kingdom protista such as algae and plankton. There are many monerans in estuaries which live on the different plants and animals. Three examples of invertebrates that live in our biome are the starfish or pisater which is an enchinoderm, a spiny skinned animal with a five part radial symmetry and tube feet, sandworm which is an annelid, a round worm like animal that has a segmented body, soft shelled clam which is a mollusk, which has a internal or external shell, a foot, mantle and a visceral mass. Two examples of vertebrates are the duck which is an aves, that have feathers in place of fur and wings, and the alligator which is a reptile that finds their home in the mangroves. An example of adaptation is the cattail which can tolerate a lot of different temperatures and humidities. It can tolerate these different climates because it adapts to the physical and chemical conditions of the soil. It has to adapt to all of these climates because of the different regions that estuaries are located. Another example of adaptation is found in the singing tree frog. This organism has the ability to blend into the trees of the mangroves. It has developed a loud mating call to attract females. An example of an endangered species is the Bald eagle. The Bald eagle is endangered because in the early 1900's the humans were hunting them because of their elegance and because they are the bird of the United States of America. There are laws that now protect the Bald eagle and it is not in as much danger of being extinct. A very good example of symbiosis is found in the mangrove trees of the mangrove swamps. There thick root system traps land and soil which allow many plants to survive and grow in the low water level of the mangrove swamps.
