History: Shalott was only three years old when
Atlantis sunk, and she remembers nothing beyond her
life in Corinth with foster parents. She doesn't even
remember that they are not her real parents. When her
father "gives" her in marriage (at the age of 13) to
the king of a tiny country south of Greece, she
doesn't realize she is going from a bad life to a
worse. Her new husband beats her and rapes her,
keeping her a virtual prisoner in her "palace". After
two years she is able to escape and manages to get to
Athens.
Unable to find decent work, hunger forces her to prostitution. The money is easy and Shalott doesn't fall prey to the diseases some of her comrades suffer. She grows bitter and fragile until at sixteen she winds up pregnant. With nowhere else to turn, she
chooses the goddess Aphrodite and begs for aid. Promising her unborn child in payment, Shalott asks to never be held prisoner to men again. Aphrodite gives in and grants her the Power of Seduction. While Shalott's baby girl is raised to be Aphrodite's High Priestess, Shalott herself is a protegee of the
Goddess. Then the worst happens.
The young daughter dies tragically, and Aphrodite turns her back on Shalott and strips her of all power. Desperate,
Shalott turns to Rome, the Eternal City, hoping to
start her life over. She hires on as an escort (since
she has no other skills or experience) and through a
man she despises, Pompey, she meets Caesar, Julius
Caesar. They fall in love and she begs him to marry
her. Caesar feels his duty to Rome very strongly,
though and refuses. During this time Shalott has been
secretly trained as an assassin. She begin working and
comes to be known as the "Angel of Death". Caesar,
meanwhile, has met a scheming young woman named
Aurelia who desires to be his wife. She exposes
Shalott as the assassin, and turns Caesar from her.
Shalott's one-time greatest love condemns her to
death. Shalott is executed in the Colosseum on the
Ides of March... twenty five years before Caesar
himself is murdered. Shalott does not die, instead is nursed back to health by an exceptional healer and flees back to Greece where she becomes a priestess of Ares, God of War. However, things do not work out, and Ares banished her to the Alternate Realm. Shalott finds herself in the exact place she left her realm, that is Ares' throne room. Ares, the God of Love, that is. Now a priestess of the God of Love, Shalott ends up falling in love and marrying his son, Cupid the God of War. After learning she has lead poisoning, and even her Altlantean blood will not stop her slow progression to death, Cupid begs for immortality for his love from Zeus and it is granted. After Cupid is betrayed in his realm, Shalott and Cupid go back to her world, where they currently reside, going between homes in Greece and Rome.
