Kayla was the love child of Taira’s forgotten affair with the handsome God Hades. However, Taira was very ashamed of this daughter and Kayla was hid from her half-siblings, Immediately, Cyrene gave Kayla to the nearest Amazons to raise and train as their young sister, in the village of Mereah, the forest Amazons. Their Queen Jaynah did take her willingly as her own, and all of her life, Kayla grew to think that Jaynah was her birth mother.
By the age of 11, Kayla was known as heir to the throne of Mereah. Guided by the haunting war-god Ares and black sheep God of the Forge, Hephaestus, she eases through her teen years to 16. As she still does not know Hades is her father, he tells Hephaestus to bestow upon her a beautiful jewel—as we come to know is the Light of Celesta—which angers the jealous Aphrodite and Kayla is almost put to death by the vengeful love goddess—but is saved by her dear friend (who she later finds is her cousin) Hercules. But soon after, she witnessed the war of Corinth and the Merean Tribe—in which, the king destroyed the entire tribe. Kayla luckily survived, and found her way to Britannia to live with Illysa, Taira’s sister.
Illysa herself was part of royalty, as the evil king Calen courted her. Training in the most prestigious academy, Kayla helped her aunt realize the evil that Calen was. The king was killed by her aunt, and she later remarried to his advisor Nephelas. As she escaped his grasp—and left, eventually venturing out to Rome, where she met Pompey, the Magnus.
The two fell very much in love, until the great Emperor Julius Caesar finds that she is indeed the sister of his betrayed assassin Callinda and banishes her from Rome. She defies him for months and snuck into Rome to meet with her lover—and was later discovered and captured, of course sentenced to death. The night before her crucifixion, Pompey releases her from the prison and tells her never to return.
Now on an adventure to find her sister, Callinda, Kayla travels throughout the ancient lands to find the truth about her family—especially those of Godly blood.
