High Count of the `Moyerius Empire

From the beginning of the reign of Edward III to the end of the reign of
Henry V, Paladins can be found all over.

This was a period of huge change, seeing innovation not only in
warfare, religion and politics, but also tremendous social upheaval as
the peasants revolted against crippling taxes, threatening to destroy the
traditional order. It was a bloody time, with England engaged in the
continuing struggle with France, now known as the Hundred Years
War, which encompassed the great battles of Crecy, Poitiers, and
Agincourt. Even within its own borders, England was occupied in a
constant war with Scotland and Wales.

Yet in this age of conflict, the fourteenth century saw the high point of
chivalry as we know it. Amidst the blood and frenzy of the battlefield,
deeds of such honour and bravery were performed that the tales of their
doing still echo even today. I, Sheilhan was there.

I am a seer of light and justice. Going against every moral fiber of my
being, I sacrifice it all to protect my family Moyerius.

It is the custom in England, as in several other countries, for the nobles
to have strong powers over their men and to hold them in serfdom: that
is, that by right and custom they have to till the lands of the gentry,
reap the corn and bring it to the big house, put it in the barn, thresh and
winnow it; mow the hay and carry it to the house, cut logs and bring
them up, and all such forced tasks; all this the men must do by way of
serfage to the masters. In England there is much greater number than
elsewhere of such men who are obliged to serve the prelates and the
nobles. And in the countries of Kent, Essex, Sussex and Bedford in
particular, there are more than in the whole of the rest of England.

These bad people in the counties just mentioned began to rebel
because, they said, they were held too much in subjection, and when
the world began there had been no serfs and could not be, unless they
had rebelled against their lord, as Lucifer did against God; but they were
not of that stature, being neither angels nor spirits, but men formed in
the image of their masters, and they were treated like animals. This was
a thing they could no longer endure, wishing rather to be all one and
the same; and if they worked for their masters, they wanted to have
wages or it. In these machinations they had been greatly encouraged
originally by a priest of Kent called John Ball, who had been imprisoned
several times for his reckless words by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
This John Ball had the habit on Sundays after mass, when everyone
was coming out of church, of going to the cloisters or the graveyard,
assembling the people round him and preaching. Soon these people
began turning up missing or dead. The obvious attack of the undead's
doing. I set out to defend the people against the horid atrocities.
Becoming a hunter of the undead, I began to kill them slowly. Hoping
to drive them out of this land, not wishing them on others, but certainly
wanting them gone from here.

The "Hundred Years' War" between France and England was an
episodic struggle lasting well over a hundred years, for much of the time
without any conflict. The battles were both violent, but also occasions
when ideals of "chivalry" were displayed. Other times there were those
who were left dying on the battle fields that were taken into the dark gift
as they call it. They became night walkers. This was atrocious to me
since these brave soldiers had fought and died with honor, only to have
the honorable death stolen from their very grasps. During this and the
peasant revolt, I was driven to slay those demons of the night. To
avenge those slain with honor and recieve justice. This drive led me to
the `Moyerius family, a brood if you will.

Upon meeting one called Rachelle late one evening while I was relaxing at home
after hours of talking she explained her life to me and what she was, seeking
the same thing as I did though she carried a Vampire's name. Knowing
what led me to defend ... innocence, the Vampires within this family the
same, so opposed to killing them remained a mystery. I had no clue
what the attraction was or why I would throw away all I stood for just to
be with them, or am I really doing that?

Regardless of that, here I am.
