I've joined with BikerScout.net
and Cloud City Squad, which currently an outpost for Garrison Titan, so I can start trooping soon.
My intention is to put up some pics (imagine that) and little tidbits here and there. Of course that whole 'picture' thing might go easier if I actually had a camera...
I have most of the plastics for a TB outfit, including a helmet. Two plastic pieces, a set of gloves, a cumberbun, and a set of boots and I'll be ready to hang with the big dogs.

I went boot shopping but I didn't find anything readily. It probably didn't help that I started at 8.00pm when most places were closing up. I'll try again in the next day or two.

I did find boots yesterday, and vinyl today. I'll tackle the boots and juggle in some helmet work this weekend.
I have been working on placing the speaker inside the aerator instead of in the very common location of earholes. I have this bizarre fetish with NOT doing things the same as everyone else. I found a speaker that will fit, stuck it in the aerator, and did some testing. The problem I had was with feedback. If the mic was anywhere near my mouth it was too close to the speaker. While at TK-5108's place doing an armor party last night, he suggested I use something to seal the speaker from the helmet. The way the helmet is constructed there is a 1/2" hole through which sound may travel directly behind the speaker. We brainstormed for a minute and came up with modeling clay. I snagged some of that on my way home today.
All I can say is, "Sweeet," and, "Duuude!" With the mic directly against the clay there is a slight resonance, but aside from that we are golden.

I spent a good portion of my weekend working on my helmet and boots. I have individual write-ups in progress, along with pictures, that will come here once I get either of them finished.

Spent the weekend with my sister (BH2828) and she constructed a cumberbund for me. My sewing skills are very weak and my debacles have already been the source of much chuckling from Cloud City Squad and Garrison Titan. So with my sister doing all the hard work I fiddled with the helmet. I did manage to get the liner in a workable place. The mounting looks a little funny, but it works and is comfortable.
Given the intensly difficult task of hot-glueing the liner mounts in place and adding an elastic strap to an armpiece I decided it was time to take a break and show off the TB's ability to sit while in armor.

Yeah, been a while. Work shipped me across the entire continent for the month of March, but now I'm back.
I received my gloves from JC Whitney. They aren't perfect, but without Gloves-in-a-Bag they are the next best thing.

Managed to cobble everything together some time in May, just in time to attend NorWesCon. I've been to several events through the summer with a few more still on the calendar for the fall and winter. Visit Cloud City Squad, click on Gallery, and you'll see me in most of the events.
The list of things to still work on is large, but somehow I manage to get everything duct-taped and bailing twined together for each event. :) Every time I suit up I say, "I really need to fix xyz," or, "I forgot that abc needs changed." Alas! The neverending project that is a costume.
Pictures of the things I've done are still planned to be posted, I'm just way too lazy.!
