The One Ring

Reviewing a film on such a large scale as "The Two Towers" requires stamina, common sense, and a love of all things great. For those of you who don't have time to read a long review..."THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS" IS THE GREATEST SEQUEL EVER MADE. YOU HAVE TO BE A FUCKING IDIOT TO NOT LOVE THIS MOVIE. Now that I've got that out of my way, I can review this movie without using such gut-splattering profanity...NOT!! This movie starts out exactly where "Fellowship" ended. It makes no explanations of why Elijah Wood and Sean Astin are three feet tall and have huge, hairy...feet. Nor why Viggo Mortensen and John Rhys-Davies(much too underrated for his intensity and comic-relief in his role as Gimli) are hunting Orcs in Middle-Earth. This film starts out with the craziest, most vertigo-inducing fight sequence EVER MADE!!! Since everyone and his grandmother has seen this movie already, I don't have to make it a secret that seeing Ian Mckellan fighting a demon while plummeting through fire, ice and rock. Then flash-forward to the single greatest digital effect ever...Gollum(Andy Serkis). If there was ever a character brought to life with all special effects without losing any of the glory and splendor of the character, this is it. Then, of course, two hours into the movie, we witness the greatest battle scenes ever caught on film: The Battle of The Hornburg and The Last March of The Ents. Genius. The effects on Treebeard(a prop for his body and CG for his face) are also top-notch. DVD enthusiasts are going to love the second disk, with so many great features like documentaries, interviews and previews of the "Return of the King" media blitz that arrives in November.--10/10
