Seeing the Dave Matthews Band in Central Park, personified why I love the community and fans of this band. Waiting in line for about 6 hours before we got in, meeting about 7 cool people from Hofstra was awesome. 5 girls, 2 guys. All the guys were really cool, and all the girls we're really cute. I could have had one of them, but Jon kept fucking it up for me, but I still could have had her but I pussied out (just ask Jon). So then, we went in and in a mad dash about 8 blocks worth of lawn to our spot, Jon and I got separated. I ran faster, but somehow Jon ended up about 10-15 feet from the stage, and I was about 10 feet back from him. I thought it would suck because I wouldn't know anyone. But, within 10 minutes I had meet a whole bunch of cool DMB fans around me. Joe, Frank, Mead, Alex, and this kid we called Shockey because of his jersey as well as the 3 girls next to me too. The only one whose name I can remember was the cute blonde Beth's. I was talking to her dancing with her the whole concert. While waiting for the show to start, Joe and Alex ventured out to the concessions to get water. I gave them some $ to get me some water. Figuring they'd come back with a few waters, I was wrong. They came back with a case of water for everyone that was around us. It shows the types of Die-Hard fans the DMB has. Always helping each other out. Once the show finally started, being about 20-25 feet from the stage, we had some room to move around and dance and stuff. The show was amazing. The energy was the most amazing feeling I've ever felt. The setlist was killer, and full of surprises. Everyone song was slammin. It was so loud too which was nice. The only low light of the show was Where Are You Going... the song that is. You all know what happened during it though... if I've talked to you about it. Then the encore was a 3 song performance of Grey St, What You Are and stay. It was amazing. Enough cannot be said about what an amazing experience it was. 14 shows and this was the best. Hands Down. Even beats out MSG last year with James Brown. Getting out of the show with Jon wasn't too bad. Met up with the Hofstra people again, and said goodbyes and such. Managed to get on the subway, and take the right train to Penn Station, then the train back to NJ, then drove back home. Being on my feet for 18 hours, rushing to get up to the front, and nearly getting dehydrated, if it wasn't for my DMB friends I made at the concert, it was all worth it. God, I love everything about this band and its fan community.
