October 2004 was the 10th anniversary of the formation of the Kathleen Cuningham Foundation for breast Cancer Research, now the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). The Australian business and community embraced the NBCF's 'Power of 10' campaign by raising awareness and continuing to fund breast cancer research into finding the cure, finding the cause.
It has been a successful year with an increase in income from $3.5million to $5.2 million and this will enable another $4.5 million to be directed to new research programs commencing in 2005. With our forward commitments from previous grant funding, the total is now almost $6 million. This result is possible because of the generosity of Australian business and the community.
The NBCF commenced funding Kathleen Cuningham Research Grants in 1996, Doctoral Research Scholarships in 2001, Career Development Awards in 2004 and Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in 2005.
Since inception the NBCF has
funded a total of $18,375,155.
