Vash's Gun

Hello everyone out there. I'm Britton and I thought I would give all you Trigun fans some info on Vash's gun . Through some intensive research I have found that Vash's gun is based off of the Mateba Revolver, a bottom chambered aligned, double action revolver. Now for those of you, like myself, that aren't gun fanatics, double action means that you can either cock the hammer then pull the trigger to fire or just pull the trigger. However, the bottom breech barrel part of the gun (breech meaning hinged to open and not opening on the side like a swing revolver) is based off of some older guns like the Schofield breech or Webley breech barrel revolver with an auto ejecting system. There are actually three official replicas of this gun, two of which are the revolver from the the anime and the other is from the Trigun Maximum manga. The first replica is a resin kit made by a company called Dai Nippon Giken (Big Japan Research). It is a conversion kit for another model, the Tokyo Marui Smith and Wesson M29 revolver kit. So you have to buy both the kit and the M29 kit to make the gun. It is a non-firing replica. No bullets, no BB's. Now the hammer and trigger do work on this gun as well as the action rotated cylinder. There are working versions of this gun that fire BB's, but those were custom jobs done by fans like ourselves. Original cost of the kit 18000 yen plus 2100 yen for the Tokyo Marui and M29, or about $150 for the kit and $18 for the M29. The second replica is a finished model by the company Vice Alpha. This version of the gun has a shorter cylinder and comes with a plaque that says Vash the Stampede on it. Another non-firing replica, the trigger and hammer works but did not rotate the cylinder. Mainly a display piece, this item's cost is 42000 yen, roughly $350. The third replica is based off the revolver in Trigun Maximum. It is another kit that has two different version that can be bought. The trigger and hammer do not work, but the breech does. It cost 21000 yen or about $175. The second version is a modification kit that needs a Tanaka M29 airsoft or BB gun to complete it. It completely works, trigger and hammer, fires 6mm BB's and can be built to either shoot out of the bottom chamber or top chamber. The instructions come in three set: beginner, medium, and upper level. Beginner explains how to basically put it together with the least amount of work and upper going into doing some major modification to the Tanaka M29 as well as to Vash's gun. Tis version of the kit cost 18000 yen, approximately $145. There is no known bullet firing version of Vash's gun, so if you are willing to go through the time and effort to find contacts in Japan to find one, your best bet is to look for either of these. So for all you Trigun fans out there. now you know.
