"Veronica Zahn Tribute Show"

[Show opens with Travis Zahn making his way from behind the curtain, dressed in a lime green dress shirt and dress pants to match. His black hair is slicked back tightly in a pony tail.]

[The crowd rises to their feet and applaud as Zahn heads down the aisle, slapping hands with a few at ringside, breaking away from his heel character. He goes around ringside and giving thanks for the people in attendance, stopping by the ring stairs to give hugs and kisses to two families at ringside. The Zahn’s and the Ragland's. Tears are coming from the faces of both the families at ringside.]

[There is no music. There is no glitz. No Glamour.]

[Travis makes his way up the ring steps, stepping through the middle and top ropes. He walks to the middle of the ring, pulling a microphone from his back pocket. Travis looks around the arena and raises the mic to his lips…and hesitates.]

“Ver-on-ica…Ver-on-ica”

[The crowd begins to chant]

[Zahn lowers the mic and bites his lower lip as he spins slowly around, tears beginning to form in his eyes. He finally pumps his arms up and down for the crowd to get louder, in which they oblige.]

“VER-ON-ICA!!! VER-ON-ICA!!!”

Zahn: Thank you…Thank you.

[The chants grow even louder as Travis raises his hand just above his face.]

Zahn: I appreciate everybody coming out tonight on this somber May evening.

[Applause]

Zahn: Tonight is a special night because we are taking time to celebrate the life of a woman that was on the ride of her life. A woman that touched the hearts of all those around her. A woman that many of you just began…

[Zahn pauses]

Zahn: Just began to know…that woman IS my manager…my first love…and my wife. Veronica Ragland.

[Travis lowers the mic and looks to the screen as a still image is shown of a smiling Veronica in what appears to be a large flower garden. Sunglasses are placed ontop of her head and she is dressed in tight blue jeans with a pink tank top. ]

[Crowd cheers as Travis moves towards the screen side of the ring and stares at the picture for a second or two.]

Zahn: Veronica loved to be outside and in touch with nature if you will. She loved to garden and spend money on endless amounts of flowers and plants. If you were to ask her what her favorite flower was, she couldn’t decide because she was too busy explaining what each one looked like. (Travis smiles)

[Pause]

Zahn: But there was one thing that she loved more than planting…and myself of course…but that was coming to the arena’s and performing and entertaining each and every one of you!

[Fans applaud]

Zahn: She loved you fans the most. She knew that you paid your hard earned money to come to a BWA show and be entertained. She knew and felt deep in her heart that if she didn’t entertain the crowd, then she didn’t do her job. If anybody knows Veronica, she was one of the first ones here and one of the last ones to leave, signing autographs for the fans, taking pictures, whatever it was, she was willing to go out of her way to satisfy others.

[Travis walks around the ring]

Zahn: Veronica wasn’t one to complain. Hell, after marrying me she knew what she was getting herself into…Haha…she knew right away that she wanted to be on the road with me and the BWA or whatever promotion I was wrestling for. She lived and breathed this business just as much as I do.

[Travis looks around and wipes a few tears from his eye]

Zahn: We’ve been through so much together and we were just getting started. For those of you who don’t know, we were high school sweethearts back in Nevada…we met in the ninth grade and never let go. It was instantaneous. It’s hard to believe that she’s not right here next to me…it just doesn’t feel normal.

[Travis shakes his head]

Zahn: I know that she is gone in the physical sense…but I don’t believe she’s truly gone. I know she’s with us tonight, smiling down and giving us all that bright Veronica smile and I’m sure were all getting huge hugs.

[Camera cuts to some fans in the crowd, who are tearing up or standing intently, biting their lips.]

Zahn: I want to briefly introduce some people that have come here tonight to pay respects along with all of you.

[Travis walks to the opposite side of the ring]

Zahn: In attendance here tonight is Mr. and Mrs. Ragland.

[Crowd applauds as the two stand up and nod their heads, wiping away tears]

Zahn: Thank you…and next we have Veronica’s lovely sister, Alyssa.

[Alyssa stands up as the crowd applauses once more]

Zahn: I thank you for coming tonight. Also, my parents as well.

[A wave of the arms from the Zahn family.]

Zahn: Now I hope I’m not talking too much…but I would like to take a few more minutes to show a little highlight reel.

[Travis walks to the center of the ring]

Zahn: I would like to let you fans know the real Veronica and not the character she played here in the BWA. She wouldn’t want her last times to be remembered as being the “Bad Girl.” The video captures the true light and heart warming emotions of Veronica.

[The lights in the arena begin to dim as the still picture fades out and Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up” begins to play as a video package begins to appear on the screen and the crowd begins to let out a slow cheer and applause.]

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;

When troubles come and my heart burdened be;

Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,

Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;

You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;

You raise me up... To more than I can be.

[The package starts with a recent picture of Veronica and fades into older pictures, starting from when her and Travis met in high school. Various pictures are shown…cheerleading, volleyball, Prom, days at the beach, Travis and Veronica’s Wedding Day, friends, family, candid photos with other wrestlers.]

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;

You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;

You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up... To more than I can be.

[The music slowly fades out as “I Had the Time of My Life” by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes begins to play. The pictures keep coming across the screen, but they carry a much more lively theme as they show Veronica having a good time at dances and cheerleading competitions.]

Now I've had the time of my life

No I never felt like this before

Yes I swear it's the truth

And I owe it all to you

'Cause I've had the time of my life

And I owe it all to you

I've been waiting for so long

Now I've finally found someone

To stand by me

We saw the writing on the wall

As we felt this magical

Fantasy

[The next set of pictures begin showing Veronica and Travis when they first began in the wrestling business back in Colorado. The early years have Veronica wearing business type attire with white rimmed glasses. The package evolves into the recent years and working with the BWA. A picture is shown of Travis winning the Cruiserweight title and the two exchanging an embrace. ]

Now I've had the time of my life

No I never felt this way before

Yes I swear it's the truth

And I owe it all to you

I've had the time of my life

No I never felt this way before

Yes I swear it's the truth

And I owe it all to you

'Couse I've had the time of my life

And I've searched though every open door

Till I found the truth

And I owe it all to you...

[The song comes to an end as does the package with a picture of Veronica with a smirk and one hand on her hip as she is dressed in a short orange tank-top with charcoal gray pants. It was one of her last BWA promo pictures taken. The screen caption then appears]

[The lights come back on as the crowd erupts with cheers and applause. Zahn raises the mic one more time.]

Zahn: I thank you for letting me share some of our personal photographs and showing how much of a family we ALL were to her.

[Pause]

Zahn: Now, I’m not going to take any more of your time telling you how great she was because I could go on for days. I just want you to know that tonight, the wrestlers are putting aside the grudges for just one night…just one night we are going to celebrate a life and give you the very best wrestling event you have seen in awhile. Veronica wouldn't want you fans or the boys in the back to come here tonight and be sad. She would want all of us to go on with the show and have a good time. That's what we shall do.

[Applause]

Zahn: I thank you once again from the bottom of my heart.

[Travis raises his arms in the air and does a mini bow as to say “Thank you.” Travis leaves the ring and walks down the steps as he shakes hands with those at ringside, walking up the rampway towards the picture of his wife.]
