The First Sex is specifically created for a progrssive women's audience. Your TFS team is composed of feminists from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. That being said, many progressive men will enjoy the program and learn a lot!

The First Sex is a one-hour bi-weekly feminist human rights and social justice radio program that deals with issues such as health, the environment, globalization, political science, media bias, peace and criminal justice concerns, all from a uniquely feminine perspective. The First Sex airs on KPFT 90.1 FM (a Pacifica Foundation station - the only non-profit radio network in the USA) and can be heard on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 10:00pm.

The show feature interviews, lectures, and music by women artists. Interviews conducted with knowledgeable women from all backgrounds of our society: academics, grassroots activists/non-profits, artists. Our lectures will be on issues of particular interest to women such as: feminism, rape, sex-trafficking, female genital mutilation, welfare reform, corporate welfare, and the war on the poor (who are mostly women and their children). In addition, regular segments include: Women's History, Women's Calendar, Women's News from around the world, Women's Health, Women Making Time, and the Amazon Roundtable.
