Hampton Roads Crane & Rigging Co. (HRCR) opened its doors in November of 1981. Its owner, Bill Speegle, has been in the crane and rigging business since 1946. Jim Speegle, president of HRCR, is a 1989 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has been with the company since 1994. Marlette Blauert, secretary/treasurer of HRCR, started with the company in July of 1996.
HRCR is comprised of 20-25 employees, including our office staff, certified crane operators, (members of the Operating Engineers Local 147 out of Norfolk, VA) our rigging crew, (members of the Ironworkers Local 79) and our experienced drivers. Drivers handle various types of trailers such as lowboys, dropdecks, 40 foot stretch flat trailers and rollbacks (tilt-back trucks). Our entire company works together from the initial phone call or site visit, through the scheduling process and the final job performance. Always present is the goal of completing the scope of work safely and efficiently for our customers. It is our pleasure to serve the Greater Hampton Roads and surrounding areas.
