What makes Smiling Politely so much different from 3DV? Two things:
A new name
A new member
That's right, we have taken on a second guitarist by the name of Ben Roth. Not much is known about Ben at the moment, but as the weeks go on, I'm sure we'll find out more about his compeling past.
Why the name change?
Following our recent legal action taken upon us by the Vandals, we were stuck with the name "3DV." it was determined that 3DV just couldn't stand for anything, so a new name was needed. When we added a new band mate, that was all the motivation we needed to get our asses in gear about this name change thing.
Why Smiling Politely?
Did you ever see the Hullabaluza episode of the Simpsons? Well if you haven't, in the episode Homer meets Billy Corgan and Billy introduces himself as "Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins" and Homer introduces himself as "Homer Simpson, Smiling Politely." So in short, it's a Simpsons reference.
